17/01/2019 16:40:54 thanks for your application. I will be in touch if any info required

1. Which type of grant are you applying for?
Community Area Grant

2. Amount of funding required?
£1001 - £5000

3. Are you applying on behalf of a Parish Council?

4. If yes, please state why this project cannot be funded from the Parish Precept
In 2017 Landford Parish Council LPC assumed responsibility for the hamlets of Hamptworth and Nomansland. In doing so LPC acquired additional significant assets in Nomansland including a listed war memorial a reading room of local historical significance and a neglected play area in a recreation ground all 3 of these assets are in need of major investment. We are particularly concerned about the play area as several pieces of play equipment are in need of urgent repair and it is currently unfenced. ROSPA recommends fencing for childrens play areas to i. contain children within the relative safety of the play area ii. to keep dogs off the play area and iii. to give children a sense that it is their area and separate from the surroundings. LPC feels that it is essential to undertake the remedial work and fence installation as soon as possible as there are currently safety issues with the state of the play area. The cost of undertaking this work is significant and there is inadequate provision in the Precept or reserves to complete the work in an acceptable timeframe.

5. Project title?
Nomansland Recreation ground childrens play area fence

6. Project summary:
The childrens play area is located within a large recreation ground which also contains tennis courts a skate park a football pitch and sports hall. Fencing the Play park area will keep out dogs and secure the play park to help encourage further usage of the facilities. By increasing usage of the childrens play area we hope that it will further encourage children to participate in sports and social activities which will bring with it all of the health social and well being benefits associated with active fit children.

7. Which Area Board are you applying to?
Southern Wiltshire

Electoral Division
Redlynch and Landford

8. What is the Post Code of where the project is taking place?
Sp5 2by

9. Please tell us which theme(s) your project supports:

Why can't you fund this project from your reserves:
Our Precept in 2018-19 increased from 24000 to 49000 due to the merge with the Hamlets of Nomansland and Hamptworth. Reserves should equal between 50 and 100 percent of the precept which is between 24500 and 49000. The 19628.25 carried forward from 2017-18 does not meet the minimum 50 percent figure so our reserves being planned to be built up slowly to meet this minimum figure for our enlarged Parish sustainability.

We are a small community group and do not have annual accounts or it is our first year:

11. Have you or do you intend to apply for a grant from another area board within this financial year?

12. If so, which Area Boards?
Southern Wiltshire

13. Please tell us WHO will benefit and HOW they will benefit from your project benefit your local community?
The childrens play area in Nomansland is highly valued by the local community - the children love playing on the equipment and their parents or guardians enjoy the venue as an opportunity to meet and interact with their peers. However usage of the area has declined as concerns over the safety of the site and equipment have intensified. By providing a safe well maintained play area we expect the usage of the facility to increase thus promoting physical activity encouraging social interaction and contact with nature and supporting creativity and problem-solving in our children as well as improved social interaction between the parentsguardians.

14. How will you monitor this?
The LPC Recreation Ground Group undertake weekly inspections of the play area and two of the Councillors and the Clerk visit it regularly with their children so we will easily be able to determine when the usage of the facility improves. Moreover we will survey usage and attitude to the facility via our Facebook page.

15. Safeguarding. Please tell us about how you will protect and safeguard those involved in your project

16. If your project will continue after the Wiltshire Council funding runs out, how will you continue to fund it?
We have obtained a number of quotes from appropriate suppliers and will only award the contract on a fixed price basis. Therefore when we start the project we will know the final cost. We are requesting a contribution to the overall cost of the project from SWAB LPC will make up the remainder of the cost from the Precept.

17. If this application forms part of a larger project (eg. building of new village hall), please state what this project is and approximately how much the overall project will cost.
There is a project to bring the play equipment in this area up to ROSPA spec. The Activity trail play equipment refurbishment is planned for 2019-20 at a cost of a further 1000.00 pounds which is planned from precept funding.
