Description: A Second World War military camp is visible on aerial photographs taken in the 1940s but has been removed. It was situated just north of Langley Burrell, south of Langley House. It is not clear what the function of the camp was but it comprised a group of buildings around a central comopund with huts and hard standings dispersed around the site and accessed via small tracks or paths.

Title: The Archaeology of Langley Burrell

Description: The 355th General Engineer Service Regiment, part of The Corps of Engineers of the American Army, built their camp at Langley Burrell, from 4th November 1943. There were two cook houses, four mess halls and 11 other buildings at the camp. When the war was over, German Prisoners of War with armed British Army guard cleared the camp.
