Description: A Second World War Type 22 pillbox was built west of runway 17-35. It is partially buried due to regrading of the surface. This was built to defend two HF/DF radio stations at Boscombe Down Airfield. This is one of 14 pillboxes built to defend the airfield, of which 10 survive. It differed from the normal Type 22 pillbox in that it was not provided with an anti-ricochet wall.
