Description: A Second World War Type 22 pillbox is located on the northeast perimeter of Boscombe Down Airfield, on the South Railway Embankment, the roof now partly demolished to deter squatters. This is one of fourteen pillboxes built to defend the airfield, of which ten survive. It differed from the normal Type 22 pillbox in that it was not provided with an anti ricochet wall.
