  • How many young people to do you expect to benefit?

  • How will you encourage volunteering and community involvement?
  • How will you ensure your project is accessible to everyone (Disabled, low incomes, vulnerable, etc.)
  • How will ensure your project is inclusive?
  • How will you work with other community partners?
The whole scheme is based around a combination of person centred counselling peer support group work and social education exercises. Since the pilot scheme ran in Malmesbury - there has been a demand for this to continue running and also a demand for it in other areas such as Corsham. Consultation with schools identified a clear need across all the secondary schools for such a project one school alone stated they could easily fill this project. In Corsham Needs Assessment young people identified life skills as a clear and prevalent need and Wiltshire Council Public health has identified Mental health as a key issue for young people in the area. After discussions it was felt that having 2 options for young people was the best approach. Option one is 1 to 1 sessions option 2 is group workshops. The assessment is done via a questionnaire and an informal discussion to decide which option is best for the young person. The 1 to 1 sessions enable young people to express and share complex issues more openly on a weekly basis on a 6 week programme. The workshops are limited to 6 young people at a time and propose to run in March and again in April and May and perhaps September. The 1 to 1 sessions will be for 8 people for 6 weeks. I propose to open this up to all young people in the Corsham Community Area. The workshops and sessions are free for young people to attend. I will involve Greensquare and the schools and nearby colleges in promoting this to ensure all Young People are made aware The young people are given a workbook to take away and continue with their development. The whole programme is 4 workshops for up to 6 young people per workshop and a 6 week 1 to 1 programme for up to 8 people

8. Safeguarding
Please tell us about how you will protect and safeguard young people in your project (You must address all of the following):

  • Are staff and volunteers Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checked and do you hold a central record of this as well as details of staff references.
  • Who in your organisation is ultimately responsible for safeguarding?
  • How do you ensure that young people are kept safe online when accessing your services?
I have undertaken safeguarding training and hold a current DBS. All client files are kept under lock and key and none of my sessions are recorded. I have a safeguarding contact at Wiltshire Council should I have any concerns over concerns over a young persons wellbeing. I also work closely with the Locality Youth Facilitator for Chippenham.
