Issue Summary

Crossing - Starford RoadWaters Road

Latest Update

CATG Action / Recommendation

Issue

Difficulty crossing Stratford Road at the junction with Waters Road particularly at peak rush hour times traffic often goes too fast in this stretch of road one moment looks safe next you step into the road and almost get run over.

Issue Location

Salisbury

Street / Location

Stratford RoadWaters Road

Electoral Division

Issue Duration

Several years getting worse every year

Who is Affected

All pedestrians with reduced mobility and school children - the pupils from the village down Stratford Road are often dropped off at the Waters Road junction - also bus stop users as there are 2 bus stops at the junction.

What has been done so far

We have requested a crossing be installed backed by MP John Glen and supported by the Guide Dogs for the Blind Assocition.

What would resolve issue

Would a T-shaped crossing be possible where the top of the T crosses Waters Road at the pedestrian refuge and from there a crossing over Stratford Road all but like a massive speed bump which forces vehicles to slow to a stop then if someone is trying to cross the vehicle has to wait till the pedestrian has crossed safely.
