CATG Action / Recommendation

Issue

Request for 20mph speed limitThe Hyde is a narrow lane leading to Quarry Farm there are some 35 dwellings situated along this road it is narrow and has high hedgerows. There are no official passing places other than homeowners drives for vehicles or any refuge for pedestrians. The road also has what one would call intermittent street lighting leaving area of darkness between lighting posts.Quarry Farm has recently opened a retail outlet selling produce 24hrs a day. Web site dorasdairy.co.uk.The Hyde is subject to all manner of delivery vehicles inclusive of HGV traffic serving not only the farm but the domestic dwellings along it. Since the opening of the retail outlet the flow of traffic has significantly increased which sadly has lead to the loss of a family pet by an individual travelling to the farm. There is great concern from residents with regard to not only the increased volume of traffic but of the speed of which such traffic is travelling. Whilst not at the upper level of 30 mph but that of a speed that is not relative to the design and constraints of the road.Whilst it is appreciated that one can not constrain the volume if traffic it is felt that the imposition of a speed limit of 20 mph would undoubtedly create a safer situation for all.
