Latest Update

11/04/2018 14:23:52 Traffic Speed Survey Result B3098 Coulston (50mph Speed Limit) - West of Dark Lane The Results of the survey for the area of Coulston are provided below. The survey was carried out between 21/03/2018 and 29/03/2018. A total of 17696 vehicles were checked. The 85th percentile was 46.1 mph (the 85th percentile is the speed at which 85% of the traffic is travelling at or below). The average speed was 41.1mph. As with every other department, we have to target our limited resources to where they will be most effective and as such I would remind you that unless there are exceptional circumstances we will not accept another count request for this location or close surrounding area for another 12 months. Community Speed Watch does not operate in any speed limit above 40mph. Please discuss this in your Community Area Transport Group (CATG) Meetings. Any other results in higher speed limits will be discussed on their individual basis and merit. Yours sincerely Road Safety Driving roadsafetydriving@wiltshire.gov.uk 01225 701970

30/01/2018 08:27:23 Metrocount requested, exact location of monitoring equipment to be confirmed between CEM and Cllr Jerry Wickham.

30/01/2018 08:12:02 Passed to Westbury as not Tidworth issue.

Issue

Speeding on B3098 adjacent to Baynton House Lodge

Issue Location

Westbury

Street / Location

B3098 adjacent to Baynton House Lodge

Electoral Division

Ethandune

Issue Duration

Speed on this road has been an issue for many years

Who is Affected

Adjacent land owners and motorists using the road. Whilst this is governed now by a 50mph limit there was a single vehicle fatal collision in this vicinity a few years ago. The view is that the limit is inappropriate at this section of the B3098

What has been done so far

Report to Wiltshire Council since locally nothing can be achieved

What would resolve issue

Firstly assess the speed of vehicles and secondly determine whether further intervention is required to reduce the speed of traffic through advisory signage etc

Who needs to come together

This is primarily a WC issue with the close interest of Coulston Parish Council and the landowner but also features as part of a number of villages wishing to collaborate on a road safety strategy for this road.
