CATG Action / Recommendation

13/03/2018 17:35:55 Double yellow lines to be installed. Nothing more can be done.

Residents of The Peak and Reids Piece in Purton are distressed with the damage vehicles are doing to the grass verges in their roads by inconsiderate parking of vehicles picking up children from the Priamary and Secondary schools in Purton which share a common entrance. Cars are also parking on double yellow lines and blocking drives. I have seen a Risk Assessment carried out by passenger transport which identifies a concern that children are at risk of being hit by a car. Coaches are struggling to gain access to The Peak and the school car park.

What has been done so far

I have mapping showing extent of highways. I have contacted both schools and governors. I have raised the issue with the parish council. I have been in touch with Housing Association who owns the verges. I have been in touch with passenger transport. I have had parking services patrol. I propose having a meeting with all parties to discuss but the solution lies with those delivering the children to school.
