Issue Summary

Speeding at Stag Hill Chilton Foliat

Latest Update

05/02/2018 11:20:39 Metrocount carried out from 09/01/18. Results now back and sent to local resident. 85th percentile speeds are 36.0mph. This is high enough to qualify for enforcement through Community Speedwatch. I have contacted the resident with this information. Wiltshire police will also be in touch regarding setting up a new CSW group. This issue will now be closed.

09/11/2017 16:11:05 To accurately measure vehicle speeds and check that speeding is a problem, there needs to be a Metrocount done at the location near the school. Before this can take place, the local parish council will need to confirm that they agree with this. I will contact the parish council. Once they give this confirmation, I will be in touch again about the location for the Metrocount. If this check shows that speeding is a problem Wiltshire Police can get involved. They can help set up a Community Speedwatch group where volunteers track vehicle speeds and report offenders to the police. Another option is to look at a temporary 20mph limit outside the school during morning and afternoon times. More details can come from Wiltshire Councils School Travel Plan Adviser. I will make contact with them over this.

CATG Action / Recommendation

Our school is the last building before the road out of the village becomes very rural. People drive past at the most ridiculous speeds considering there is a school here. Its dangerous.
