New Bowerhill name plate sign required on the A365 Bath Road in the same location as the Melksham sign alerting drivers they are going into Melksham northbound but in the opposite direction southbound to alert drivers that they are entering the Village of Bowerhill. There is similar signage between Trowbridge and Hilperton where the diver is alerted to entering and leaving these settlements by the signage that are opposite each other.

Who is Affected

All drivers using this stretch of road and residents of Bowerhill who wish to ensure their identity especially in the light of recently approved planning application 1601123OUT for 235 dwellings and land for a primary school on the land at Pathfinder Way to reinforce the buffer between the large rural village of Bowerhill and the Town.

What has been done so far

Melksham Without Parish Council recommended at their Highways and Street Scene Committee meeting on 25th September to support this issue.

What would resolve issue

A sign stating that you are entering the Village of Bowerhill erected either opposite or in the same location as the sign stating that you are entering Melksham.

Who needs to come together

CATG, Wiltshire Council Highways Engineer and Parish Council.
