CATG Action / Recommendation

Traffic speeds though a narrow stretch of Hartham Lane presents a hazard to any pedestrian cyclist or oncoming vehicles. The section of lane from the footpath north of 14 Hartham down to Hartham Park is narrow with reduced visibility it is already a clearway but is missing some signage. Any person on that section of lane on foot is in very real danger when vehicles enter at National speeds. The traffic needs to be slowed through the houses 11 to 14 Hartham The two farm gateways and the sharp narrow bend at the base of the rise.

Issue Location

Street / Location

Hartham Lane.

Electoral Division

Issue Duration

2 years minimum.

Who is Affected

Any pedestrians dog Walkers Runners Walkers and all traffic including cyclists other vehicles.

What has been done so far

We wear high visibility clothing but in the main the traffic seems unsympathetic to anyone on foot or with a dog in the lane. We are really grateful when drivers do slow down but I and my partner have both had near misses. If the speeds were reduced the narrow nature of the lane would not be an issue.

What would resolve issue

Introduction of a local speed limit for the lane from before the footpath to the north down to the Hartham Park gates.
