09/02/2018 12:04:47 This section of A365 is subject to a 40 mph speed limit. The results of a metrocount show that the current 85%tile speed is 40.0 mph and the average speed is 35.2 mph and no further action is recommended. To recommend that this issue is closed.

22/11/2017 15:12:01 Traffic Speed Survey Result A365 Bath Road, Sells Green (30mph Speed Limit) - East of Sprout Lane The Results of the survey for the area of Bath Road are provided below. The survey was carried out between 11/09/2017 and 24/09/2017. A total of 52448 vehicles were checked. The 85th percentile was 40.0mph (the 85th percentile is the speed at which 85% of the traffic is travelling at or below). The average speed was 35.2mph. As with every other department, we have to target our limited resources to where they will be most effective and as such I would remind you that unless there are exceptional circumstances we will not accept another count request for this location or close surrounding area for another 12 months.

Speeding Traffic. Residents believe that cars are regularly exceeding the 40mph speed limit on the A365 as they travel through the village of Sells Green on the A365 Bath Road between Devizes and Melksham.

Who is Affected

Residents and visitors. As there is no pedestrian crossing here for residents to get to the bus stops on either side of the road or to visit the canal. The difficulties of crossing are exacerbated by speeding traffic.

What has been done so far

There is not much the Parish Council can do at this stage but one resident of Sells Green may investigate the setting up of a Speed Watch Group should the requested metro count prove that drivers are regularly speeding

What would resolve issue

A metro count in the first instance to assess whether cars are regularly speeding. A reduction in the speed limit to 30mph.

Who needs to come together

Wiltshire Highways, Seend Parish Council and residents of Sells Green.
