Issue Summary

CATG Frogmore Road from A350

Latest Update

30/08/2017 10:18:43 Westbury town council would support a weight restriction but not a one way system. This issue will now be discussed at the next meeting of CATG with local members. A further update will follow in due course.

04/08/2017 13:12:08 Thank you for raising your issue with the Area Board. The Council has set up a way for local people to decide local highway improvement priorities. A local community area transport group (CATG) of local people and elected councillors comes together to consider issues and proposals and to recommend those schemes that can be taken forward in any year. Before the CATG can consider a proposal, it must first consult the local parish or town council. Only if the parish supports the issue will it be considered further. If your issue is supported by the parish council, it will be submitted to the CATG for consideration. The CATG will then decide whether it should go forward onto the list of priority schemes. Resources are very limited, so it is important that schemes are prioritised in this way. Obviously, not all schemes can be taken forward and some proposals may have to wait a while before they become a priority for funding. The CATG makes recommendations to the Area Board who will decide which schemes will be funded and taken forward. We will keep you informed of progress as we go through the steps outlined.

CATG Action / Recommendation

04/08/2017 13:12:08 .

Access to Frogmore road from the A350 - over recent years there has been increasing heavy vehicles being directed down the road probably Satnav and as one side of the road is taken up with vehicles parking it causes difficulty with them being able to get through plus with oncoming traffic this has resulted in the need to reverse back onto the A350. There has also been increasing vehicles using the access from the A350 as a slip road and not slowing down to oncoming traffic pedestrians plus vehicles pulling away from outside the residential houses. I have seen near misses when pedestrians try to cross the road. More recently a vehicle came to a screeching halt and narrowly missed a elderly mobility user who had right of way and worrying I have seen vehicles turning around in the road outside the residential housing. Personally last year my daughters car was hit whilst parked outside my house where a vehicle lost control as it sped off the A350 and my granddaughter was actually sitting by the window and was a matter of feets away when the accident occurred.

Issue Location

Westbury North

Issue Duration

Greater than 3 years

Who is Affected

Residents pedestrians other road users including Frogmore road and A350

What has been done so far

Have met with our local councillor Mr David Jenkins who gave his time to understand the full extent of the issue and gave the residents the opportunity to put forward a potential solution.

What would resolve issue

We are asking that the top half of Frogmore road be made one way to the point where the road narrows. This would still give access to the top of Frogmore road from the A350 via The Mead or Station road both have access of a roundabout so calming speed.
