Issue Summary

Visility concern at junction of India Ave and Devizes Rd

Latest Update

CATG Action / Recommendation

Very poor visibility at junction of India Avenue and Devizes Road in Salisbury. When you turn right out of India Avenue onto Devizes Road the visibility is dreadful. It is a combination of a slight bend plus large trees on the right hand corner that make it impossible to see more than 1020 metres. This means that every time you turn right you essentially take your life in your hands and hope nothing is coming. I am amazed there have been no serious crashes I have been involved in a number of close calls. I think that the elderly or inexperienced drivers would have particular trouble as when you pull out yopu have to put your foot down to ensure you avoid any traffic. I often go up Harper Road instead as the view from there is clearer.

Issue Duration

Many years

Who is Affected

Anyone who is looking to turn out of India Avenue onto Devizes Road

What has been done so far

Nothing I messaged Wilts Council 2 years ago I have been waiting for a reply from them and chased them up regularly and now they have told me I should contact my area board which I am doing.

What would resolve issue

An assessment done to determine what if anything can be done to improve matters. Thoughts I have had a move the junction further out into Devizes Road so you get a better view b introduce measures to slow cars traveling up Devizes Road c remove the tall trees from the corner to improve the view.
