Issue Summary

Speeding in Chilmark

Latest Update

28/11/2017 14:13:27 Issue discussed at Community Safety Group on 22.11.17. Police have added site to list for extra enforcement. Parish Council encouraged to join Community Speed Indicator Device programme and use SID at identified location.

23/05/2017 10:13:48 Traffic Speed Survey Result B3089 Salisbury Road (30mph Speed Limit) - Near Black Dog Pub The Results of the survey for the area of Salisbury Road are provided below. The survey was carried out between 02/05/2017 and 12/05/2017. A total of 26102 vehicles were checked. The 85th percentile was 49.4mph (the 85th percentile is the speed at which 85% of the traffic is travelling at or below). The average speed was 43.57mph. As with every other department, we have to target our limited resources to where they will be most effective and as such I would remind you that unless there are exceptional circumstances we will not accept another count request for this location or close surrounding area for another 12 months. Community Speed Watch does not operate in any speed limit above 40mph. In a 30mph speed limit the following criteria will be applied; 30 to 35mph 85th percentile = No Further Action (NFA) 35.1 to 42 mph 85th percentile = eligible for Community Speed Watch Over 42 mph 85th percentile = Subject to Police enforcement
