Why can't you fund this project from your reserves:
Our Village Hall is over 100 years old and when we recently had maintenance work carried out to the roof the roofing contractors told us that we would need to have the roof replaced within the next 3 to 5 years and quoted 32500 inclusive of VAT for this at current prices. This quotation would undoubtedly have increased in 3 to 5 years time. Therefore we feel the need to forward plan for this eventuality by fundraising and conserving our own funds by applying for grants for projects we undertake.

We are a small community group and do not have annual accounts or it is our first year:

13. Please tell us WHO will benefit and HOW they will benefit from your project benefit your local community?
All those using the Village Hall will benefit from a more efficiently heated hall which will be heated to an acceptable level and consequently be more comfortable. We have had problems with hirers changing the settings on the heaters leaving them in the changed position and omitting to switch the heaters off when they leave the Village Hall which has meant wasted heat and electricity resulting in electricity bills being higher than they should have been. The new system will be under the sole control of the Village Hall Committee via a central thermostat which will not be accessible to hirers. Consequently the heating will only be set for the time it is required resulting in a significant reduction in wasted heat and unnecessary use of electricity which will result in a saving on the electricity account. We have obtained only one quotation for this work. We have received many complaints from hirers about the heating system and have lost bookings as a result of hirers feeling that the Village Hall was to cold for them to pursue their activities. In addition the Village Hall was beginning to get a reputation for being cold. All these issues were affecting bookings and consequently our income for the buildings maintenance and upkeep. We felt that this was something we needed to act upon quickly and rectify before another winter. K A Watts Plumbing and Heating Ltd Unit 9 M3 Trade Park Manor Way Eastleigh Hants SO50 9YA from who we obtained the quotation is a company known to us with a good reputation for quality work. As custodians of a public building we take our duty of care to those who use our Village Hall and to the Village Hall itself very seriously and therefore we preferred to use a company whom we knew to have a good reputation for quality work.I hope this explains the position satisfactorily and that you are able to consider our application for a grant despite having only one quotation.

14. How will you monitor this?
From judging the effects of the system and how it is working once it is installed on all those who use the Village Hall.

15. If your project will continue after the Wiltshire Council funding runs out, how will you continue to fund it?
By fund raising and donations.

16. If this application forms part of a larger project (eg. building of new village hall), please state what this project is and approximately how much the overall project will cost.
Not applicable
