Description: A Second World War Type 22 pillbox was sited in the trees that formed Porton Firs at Boscombe Down Airfield. This was one of fourteen pillboxes built to defend the airfield, of which ten survive. It has been demolised, but the base is still there. It differed from the normal Type 22 pillbox in that it was not provided with an anti-ricochet wall.
