Latest Update

05/02/2018 09:09:08 Dear Denis, I have spoken to our highways officer, Gareth Rogers, this morning who says: Wiltshire Council’s policy on the setting of Speed Limits is based around the Department for Transport guidance given in Circular 01/13: Setting Local Speed Limits, and Traffic Advisory Leaflet 01/04; Village Speed Limits. In the case for a 30mph restriction, these documents outline that a significant level of development should be present to aid driver awareness of the need for a limit of this level. It recommends that there should be a minimum of 20 properties with frontage access, over a length of 600m, and that the frontage development should average a minimum of three properties per 100m. Unfortunately, Marlborough Road doesn’t provide this level of development and consequently a 30mph limit cannot be considered. I hope this provides clarification, even if not the answer you were hoping for. Best wishes, Marc Read

Issue

The traffic travels to fast through this village. My cottage is on a corner and everyday I reverse out Im met my speeding cars appearing suddenly around the corner. At 50 Mph the breeding distance is 175 feet. This does not leave enough space for me to manoeuvre safely especially as Im reversing into traffic. Many of these cars are travelling well in excess of 50mph
