Latest Update

CATG Action / Recommendation

Issue

Request for dropped kerbs.Dropped kerbs have been installed at DeHavilland Place completed and closed under per Issue 4182 to assist with disability access for wheelchair and mobility scooter users to gain access to the Bowerhill Sports Field. A further request has been made for dropped kerbs on Hercules Way at the entrance to Gerrishs Yard as this section of footway is the only section in the industrial area from the residential area of Bowerhill which is making access to the Sports Field difficult. Due to the large HGVs using Hercules Way the resident is unhappy travelling on the road in her wheelchair.

What has been done so far

The Parish Council contacted Mr. Gerrish who supports the issue in principle but is unwilling to pay for the works to be undertaken and does not have a street works licence to do so. When he built his yard he did so in line with the approved planning permission from Wiltshire Council and was never asked at that time to install dropped kerbs. An independent quote for this works was sought which came in at 1600.00.

What would resolve issue

The Parish Council at their Highways and Street Scene Committee meeting on 25th September recommended that this issue was supported and that a request for 2 dropped kerbs to be installed at the entrance to A B Gerrish in Hercules Way.
