Issue Summary

CATG Speeding Brinkworth B4042

Latest Update

05/09/2017 14:26:16 Thank you for raising your issue with the Area Board. The Council has set up a way for local people to decide local highway improvement priorities. A local community area transport group (CATG) of local people and elected councillors comes together to consider issues and proposals and to recommend those schemes that can be taken forward in any year. Before the CATG can consider a proposal, it must first consult the local parish or town council. Only if the parish supports the issue will it be considered further. If your issue is supported by the parish council, it will be submitted to the CATG for consideration. The CATG will then decide whether it should go forward onto the list of priority schemes. Resources are very limited, so it is important that schemes are prioritised in this way. Obviously, not all schemes can be taken forward and some proposals may have to wait a while before they become a priority for funding. The CATG makes recommendations to the Area Board who will decide which schemes will be funded and taken forward. We will keep you informed of progress as we go through the steps outlined

Issue

The 40 mph speed limit at The Common end of Brinkworth village Wootten Bassett end on the B4042 is routinely broken by motorists both entering the village and leaving the village. This is dangerous as the road can be busy at peak times there are no footpaths there is no street lighting there are residential houses and access roads onto the main road and school buses pick up along the road. I have written to the Parish Council and community police officer about my concerns and it has been recommended that I contact the Area Board. The issue was also discussed at the August Brinkworth Parish Council Meeting. I would request that a Metro check is carried out and if there is an issue which I strongly believe there is then I would be interested in a PSW scheme be set up and that electronic speed awareness signs are installed in both directions. For the Metro check I would suggest a location on the B4042 opposite Knockbreck House Fritterswell at electricity overhead line post 6124261 or opposite 1 Shepherds Rise off the B4042 at electricity overhead line post 6124262. I look forward to your reply. Kind Regards Bryan Neaves Bournbrook House The Common Brinkworth.
