Issue Summary

Speeding in Stourton

Latest Update

03/10/2017 10:36:45 Traffic Speed Survey Result Stourton Lane, Warminster (40mph Speed Limit) - South of Tower Road The Results of the survey for the area of Stourton Lane are provided below. The survey was carried out between 11/09/2017 and 24/09/2017. A total of 9504 vehicles were checked. The 85th percentile was 43.8mph (the 85th percentile is the speed at which 85% of the traffic is travelling at or below). The average speed was 36.3mph. As with every other department, we have to target our limited resources to where they will be most effective and as such I would remind you that unless there are exceptional circumstances we will not accept another count request for this location or close surrounding area for another 12 months. For your information the thresholds for interventions are below; In a 40mph speed limit the following criteria will be applied; 40 to 46 mph 85th percentile = No Further Action (NFA) 46.1 to 50 mph 85th percentile = eligible for Community Speed Watch Over 50 mph 85th percentile = Subject to Police enforcement Not eligible for Community Speed Watch but Parish Council can still take part in Community SID scheme.
