Issue Summary

CATG - Parking - Rectory Close Tidworth

Latest Update

28/06/2017 09:57:43 Dear Debra, As we have had no further communication from either you or the town council regarding this matter, we are now closing this issue. Kind regards, Marc Read

19/05/2017 14:08:16 Dear Debra, The grassed verges within Rectory Close are not recorded as adopted highway and consequently outside of Wiltshire Council’s responsibility and its ability to undertake measures which deter parking on the grassed verges. For those roads (Plassey Road) which are the responsibility of Wiltshire Council, parking on the highway is tolerated where it is not considered to cause an inconvenience. Requests for measures which restrict on street parking should be made to the Town Council in the first instance, as this will allow them to consider any suggestion and potentially support in their annual submission for alterations. Alternatively the use of a physical barrier, such as bollards which might be more suitable to protect the verge. I will forward this request onto Tidworth Town Council and also suggest that you raise this suggestion with the Town Council as their support will be necessary before any action can be taken forward. Kind regards, Marc Read

CATG Action / Recommendation

The grass area on RECTORY CLOSETIDWORTH is being churned up by cars parking on it. Visitors to the church and the nearby park are using it to park on and the residents of RECTORY CLOSE are aggrieved because they are the ones who have taken it upon themselves to maintain its upkeep since Wiltshire council stopped doing this. The customer has asked people not to park there but as there are no signs in place people are ignoring her and her neighbours. There used to be No Parking On The Grass signs and they need reinstating.
