Issue Summary

CATG speed limit reduced 40MPH-30MPH in Lea

Latest Update

19/04/2017 14:13:08 Thank you for raising your issue with the Area Board. The Council has set up a way for local people to decide local highway improvement priorities. A local community area transport group (CATG) of local people and elected councillors comes together to consider issues and proposals and to recommend those schemes that can be taken forward in any year. Before the CATG can consider a proposal, it must first consult the local parish or town council. Only if the parish supports the issue will it be considered further. If your issue is supported by the parish council, it will be submitted to the CATG for consideration. The CATG will then decide whether it should go forward onto the list of priority schemes. Resources are very limited, so it is important that schemes are prioritised in this way. Obviously, not all schemes can be taken forward and some proposals may have to wait a while before they become a priority for funding. The CATG makes recommendations to the Area Board who will decide which schemes will be funded and taken forward. We will keep you informed of progress as we go through the steps outlined.

CATG Action / Recommendation

19/06/2017 13:35:59 Length in question on B4042 does not meet requirement for reduced limit due to lack of direct frontage development. No further action possible. Remove from tracker and inform requester.

Issue

We live in the Crescent at Lea on the B4042 just outside of Malmesbury. There is 40mph sign just before the turning for The Street to Lea slowing the traffic coming in from the Royal Wootton Basset direction but combined with the poor visibility for drivers turning right out of Lea and a bus stopwith no pull off in front of The Crescent this causes a fair few brakes to be applied late and tyre squeals Its is not much better coming from the Malmesbury direction as there is a long drag up hill out of Malmesbury and it looks like you re out in the country and again people speed up and then come across the junction and us.I suggest that the speed limit coimg through Lea top should be reduced to 30mph
